About Us

St. Andrew's is one of 92 parishes in the Episcopal Diocese of West Texas. We held our first service on St. Andrew's Day, November 30, 1964 in a private home with our first vicar, David Penticuff, celebrating Holy Eucharist. St. Andrew's was accepted to full parish status in 1974 and called our second vicar, Phillip Stevenson, to be our first rector.  Our second rector, John Padgett, served from 1995 through 2005.  Father Robert Creasy was our interim rector throughout our church's recent search for a permanent rector.

Today, led by Father David Floyd-Archibald, and our Associate rector, Father Al Snyder, our parish family numbers well over 250 households. Located in northwest San Antonio, we serve God's children from Kelly USA and Lackland Air Force Base to USAA. This portion of our city encompasses many different ethnic and economic pockets, giving our parish the most diverse character of any in this diocese. The high military turn-over we experienced in the past facilitated our growth into an accepting, loving parish. Although the military has drastically reduced their transfer rate, our ability to welcome new people has flourished.
